Profile
Dean has spent several years at the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) which provided a solid grounding on all Industrial Relations matters in all employment sectors within Victoria. He has also worked for Employer Association groups working closely with clients and supporting managers alike, adding value to Human Resources related issues, primarily in the health, hospitality and children services sectors.
After moving to WA, Dean worked as the People Manager for Qantas Flight Catering Group for several years, working with some great business mentors. In this capacity the team worked with various departments in a business partnering approach to add HR value and assist with critical employee issues. This involved working with the union movement and driving strategic HR initiatives and fundamental change in an often demanding industrial environment. He has also worked in National HR/IR roles in both the health and education sectors, and enjoys working closely with managers and supervisors alike, to assist and mentor them on all employment related functions from operational issues including OH&S and Workers Compensation, to more strategic HR matters including bottom line, value-adding initiatives.
Dean is a big believer that effective HR Management is arguably any organisations' greatest asset. HR practitioners assist managers with their greatest asset of all-their people! So it’s imperative for managers to adopt sound and contemporary ways to manage their staff effectively. Assisting managers and working with employees to reach their potential is an area Dean is highly passionate about. "I think in an often competitive market place environment, employees must continually find better ways of managing their business through developing strong employee relations strategies, otherwise they will run the fear of being in the 'left behind' basket.
The balance of industrial power may consistently alter each decade, but effective management means effective employee strategies, and this will inevitably lead to lower operational costs through decreased staff turnover, improved staff morale and reduced operating costs that lead to increased bottom line results.
The dynamics of each workplace culture different and I take great pride in assisting managers with their issues. With an extensive background as a HR generalist I am very excited to be able to share my knowledge and ideas and pass this onto business managers and supervisors alike."

Profile
Sean's philosophy in life is simple, "Add Value". In everything he does Sean looks for how his special touch and perspective can add value to a situation.
Personal Mottos: "If it is broken we can fix it" and "Let's turn that problem into an opportunity!"
Sean was very lucky to have great mentors from an early age who gave me some terrific advice about Failure and Success.
"Success and Failure are intertwined. Every Up will eventually have a Down. So get used to it and build a resilient life that can weather all kinds of trials, tribulations and still enjoy the great moments too.
The key for me is having faith in my ability to succeed while at the same time working hard on contingency plans to manage the inevitable problems that slow us down. For example, if one of my key team members was head hunted by another organisation I would like to think I already have a plan to work around it rather than lose pace. Contingency planning and management takes time and so reduces some of the potential upside, but it also greatly reduces the down time too. Planning for worst case scenarios and contingencies can make all the difference and let you hang in there when everyone else has given up."
With a background in Hospital and Aged Care leadership and management, Sean offers his clients an abundance of experience and ideas.
